Given the 24/7 operation of our trains and TrainCare Centres, flexibility is paramount to address the dynamic demands of the role. Adaptability is a key requirement, and residence within a 45-minute drive of our TrainCare Centre is essential for optimal responsiveness to operational needs.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducting the driving and shunting of trains within the TrainCare Centre as needed to maintain operational flow.
- Ensuring the fueling of trains to guarantee their readiness for daily service.
- Assisting in replenishing water tanks as part of routine maintenance.
- Adhering to all working instructions, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Prioritizing train preparation to facilitate their timely return to customer service.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications:

- Training and Experience:
- Previous driving experience is not mandatory.
- Comprehensive training course covering all necessary aspects.
- Initial 5-8 weeks of classroom-based learning in either Leeds or Manchester.
- Up to 6 months of on-the-job training within our TrainCare Centres.
- Full support from our Training Team as you develop your skills.
- Unwavering commitment expected throughout the program.

- Medical Assessment and Prerequisites:
- Selection process includes a safety-critical medical assessment covering general health, ECG, vision, hearing, color vision, and drugs and alcohol testing.
- Prerequisites include residing within a 45-minute car journey from the assigned TrainCare Centre and having no defective color vision.
- Attainment of a pass to an enhanced level on the Train Driver Psychometric Assessments, valid for 5 years.
- Note: Candidates can undertake the assessments at our Psychometric Assessment Centre unless previously failing them twice or taking them within the last 6 months.
