What Does the Opportunity Entail?

In the capacity of a Section Leader, you will serve as a champion for the Gist culture, values, and safety protocols. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Warehouse Shift Managers in the seamless operation of the Warehouse, encompassing tasks such as picking, intake, out loading, and value-added operations. Your role revolves around executing crucial duties to consistently surpass our customers’ expectations on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain transparent communication and provide ongoing feedback to colleagues, clarifying expectations with concrete examples.
  • Comprehend and adhere to the operational plan for the day, assuming responsibility for a specific operational segment.
  • Assist in promptly addressing safety concerns and escalating safety incidents, hazards, or near misses when necessary.
  • Serve as an initial point of escalation for colleague concerns.
  • Ensure the achievement of operational service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Coach colleagues to enhance their performance and meet critical operational standards.
  • Support the onboarding of new team members and address ongoing legal and operational training requirements for colleagues, following Training Within Industry (TWI) standards.
  • Allocate resources, delegate tasks, and address day-to-day issues as needed.
  • Conduct timely Return to Work interviews for colleagues and implement initial supportive measures as required.
  • Identify and regularly review training and development needs.
  • Prioritize and resolve issues through to resolution, ensuring colleagues operate in a safe and compliant environment.
  • Engage actively in site and corporate initiatives.

Who you’ll be

  • Possess a strong grasp of warehouse management systems.
  • Proficient in reporting and documenting performance statistics.
  • Capable of identifying and assessing potential risks and devising effective solutions.
  • Exhibit outstanding relationship-building skills.
  • Bring an innovative leadership approach, demonstrating creativity and implementing novel methods to enhance performance.
  • Have experience working in a unionized setting.
