This presents an exciting opportunity to become part of a rapidly expanding division within Barry-Callebaut, specializing in beverages. You’ll be joining a team of up to 15 operators, including temporary staff, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the production and processing department. This role offers an excellent chance to actively participate in numerous ongoing improvement initiatives set to launch at the site.
Regarding the Position
Your primary responsibilities will include taking ownership and overseeing a designated manual packing machine and its respective area. You will be tasked with upholding rigorous standards in terms of Health and Safety and Quality by adhering to established protocols, ensuring full compliance with production, QMS (Quality Management System), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and downtime reporting. Additionally, you will be responsible for aligning with the daily production plan, ensuring the correct packaging materials are readily available as per the plan. Your role will play a pivotal part in helping Beverages UK meet its targets in terms of volume, quality, safety, and efficiency while embodying our core values: Team Spirit, Entrepreneurship, Integrity, Customer Focus, and Passion.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to fostering a positive culture and behavior in terms of Health and Safety.
- Perform timely quality inspections of the product, carry out searches for foreign objects in the area, and bring attention to any GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) issues.
- Operate pouch-making machinery, set up production lines, and configure the box-taping machine, including changing sizes when necessary.
- Ensure that finished products are correctly packaged according to both company and customer expectations.
- Take an active role in supporting Triple Zero initiatives, which aim for Zero Accidents, Zero Delays, and Zero Defects.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to high hygiene standards, including allergen cleaning protocols.
- Provide guidance and assistance to the machine operator support team.
About You
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment, specifically in food manufacturing. You should have a solid understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs), one-point lessons (OPLs), and hygiene standards. (Essential)
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and problem-solving is highly beneficial. (Knowledge)

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

This position primarily requires the individual to perform manual handling and packing tasks, specifically packing dry powdered products into boxes, with each box weighing up to 1kg. Additionally, the individual may have opportunities to transition into other factory roles, potentially including bulk operations. Where they will use fully automated machinery to pack products weighing 15kg, 25kg, and 1 tonne.
