Moreover, Transit Operators have the opportunity to increase their income through additional hourly wage premiums based on the Collective Agreement, encompassing various shift bonuses and overtime pay.

Your Role at a Glance:
Your role involves being the primary representative of BC Transit, ensuring the safe transportation of all community members to their desired destinations. We are in search of exceptional customer service professionals whom we will train to operate our diverse bus fleet. Ranging from double-decker buses to smaller capacity vehicles. Your work will take you on routes spanning from Sidney to Sooke, providing you with ever-changing scenic views as your “office.” If this opportunity resonates with you, consider becoming a part of BC Transit’s commitment to safe and efficient public transportation.
Your Qualifications:
- A valid BC Class 5 driver’s license or an equivalent out-of-province license.
- At least two years of driving experience without a learner’s or novice designation.
- A Claims Experience Summary from the past 14 days. Demonstrating five years of experience with no more than one at-fault claim in the last five years. Candidates with a clean driving record are preferred.
- National (N) and Provincial (P) driver’s abstracts, each issued within the past 14 days, indicating safe and responsible vehicle operation over the last five years with no more than one violation, totaling no more than 4 points. Candidates with a clean driving record are given preference.
- Capability to pass a comprehensive ICBC medical examination in compliance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Act for a Class 2 driver’s license and the capacity to hold a Class 2 driver’s license after on-the-job training.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts, including both straight and split shifts, during BC Transit’s 23-hour daily operating schedule.
- A well-demonstrated customer service skill set, including conflict resolution, problem-solving, and sound decision-making.
- Proficiency in English, encompassing the ability to understand, speak, and write effectively for comprehending BC Transit policies. Communicating with the public, and reporting safety or service-related incidents.
- Familiarity with the Greater Victoria area is considered an asset.
