Full-Time Produce Sales Associate Job Description

Core Objective

Deliver high-quality customer service in the Produce Department. Ensure adherence to the standard practice manual, enhance sales by providing excellent customer service, and reduce product loss by effectively applying standard practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

Foster a shopping environment characterized by an enthusiastic focus on customer satisfaction, with a strong commitment to delivering fast, friendly, and accurate service for a positive shopping experience.

• Maintain courtesy and provide assistance to fellow associates.
• Ensure the procurement, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise align with established policies and guidelines.
• Oversee unloading procedures for the Produce Department.
• Utilize company tools, including the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and ordering (CAO).
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and adherence to company policies, guidelines, and standard practices.
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and protocols and promptly address any unsafe conditions that could jeopardize the safety of associates or customers.
• Report all associate and customer accidents in line with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty.
• Adhere to the Food Lion dress code, wearing the Food Lion uniform with an apron and a complete name badge when on duty while presenting a tidy and clean appearance.
• Execute all other duties as delegated.

Qualifications

• Preferred high school graduate or equivalent.
• Proficient in interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service abilities.
• Willingness and capacity to learn various tasks and the technical aspects of the role.
• Proficiency in using technical information to resolve issues.
• Must meet the minimum age criteria for specific job functions.
• Capable of meeting the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Demands

• Utilize computers and other communication systems as necessary for job responsibilities.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Bend and lift items continuously, with weights up to 15 lbs., frequently up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally push or pull items weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Stand for 100% of the time, with frequent short-distance walking.
• Handle a variety of materials related to cleaning and packaging, fresh produce, house plants, flowers, and cleaning products.
• Frequently reach and grasp at waist level, occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level.
• Achieve established productivity standards for the role.
• Tolerate working in extreme hot or cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
