Overview:

Calgary Aggregate Recycling, a prominent provider of solutions for soil reuse and construction recycling, is in search of a capable Plant Operator to join our team at the Soil Reuse Facility. In the role of Plant Operator, you will assume a vital position in the management and upkeep of our advanced washing technology system. Your main duty will revolve around ensuring the system operates efficiently and effectively, with the aim of optimizing uptime and reducing wear.

Responsibilities/Duties and Obligations:

  • Carry out daily equipment operation tasks, which encompass starting up and shutting down, vigilance for potential blockages, handling and testing of chemicals like flocculants, and maintaining general cleanliness.
  • Maintain precise records and ensure the timely procurement of wear parts and spares.
  • Strictly adhere to the weekly lubrication schedule for seals and bearings to ensure their proper upkeep.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, which involve managing spillage, cleaning mats, making minor adjustments, and modifying chemicals as needed.
  • Inspect wear parts and assess system efficiencies, including screening media, cyclone components, and the identification of any potential leaks.
  • Undertake minor maintenance work, including valve replacements, pump disassembly, and screen media replacement.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in technical aspects with a solid understanding of electrical systems and processing.
  • Prior experience in working with pumps, pumping systems, and motors.
  • Possesses confidence and unwavering commitment, taking ownership of equipment productivity and demonstrating pride in its maintenance and efficiency.
  • Acts decisively and urgently in identifying and addressing any irregularities, having the authority to halt operations and conduct comprehensive investigations when needed.
  • Exhibits a strong sense of care and responsibility for the system and its overall condition.
  • Physical capability to routinely lift and carry loads of at least 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and overtime as required.
  • Must adhere to CAR’s zero tolerance policy and successfully complete pre-employment drug & alcohol screening as well as fit testing.

Additional Details:

Usual working hours span from Monday to Friday, with shifts lasting for 10 hours each day. Overtime and weekend work will be necessary during peak seasons.
