About Pakistan Navy

The Pakistan Navy is the naval warfare branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces, responsible for Pakistan’s 1,046 km of coastline along the Arabian Sea and the defense of important harbors and military bases. It was established on August 14, 1947, just a few days after Pakistan’s independence from British rule.

The Pakistan Navy operates a wide range of ships and submarines, including frigates, destroyers, fast attack craft, and submarines, as well as aircraft and helicopters. The Navy also operates and maintains several bases and facilities along the coast, including the headquarters of the Southern Command in Karachi.

In addition to its role in safeguarding Pakistan’s coast and territorial waters, the Pakistan Navy is also involved in a number of non-traditional security roles, such as disaster relief, search and rescue, and maritime security operations. The Navy has also played an active role in regional and international military and peacekeeping operations.

The Pakistan Navy is headed by a four-star admiral, who serves as the Chief of Naval Staff and is appointed by the President of Pakistan. The Navy is organized into several operational commands, each responsible for specific geographic areas and mission sets.
