Job Role
In this role, a Security Officer is tasked with the daily execution of security protocols within DHL facilities. The primary objective is to establish and maintain a secure and safe environment for DHL employees and guests, as well as safeguarding the property and possessions of DHL, its clients, and visitors.
Your Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative of DHL at all times and provide professional, friendly, and courteous assistance to customers.
- Cultivate and sustain a high level of professional rapport with all customers.
- Address customer inquiries and direct them to the appropriate DHL department for further information.
- Register, process, and maintain records of all site visitors and guide them to their meeting locations.
- Occupy designated duty posts as instructed by the manager, adhering to relevant security protocols.
- Control access to your assigned area in accordance with security procedures and ensure that visitors and staff possess the correct passes.
- Take appropriate action against unauthorized individuals.
- Inspect personal belongings and bags entering and leaving the site.
- Verify that any items removed from the premises by contractors have received approval from the responsible manager.
- Review the documentation of all DHL or contracted vehicles entering or leaving the premises, ensuring that departing vehicles are covered by a manifest or customs release certificate. Customs officers seal all vehicles leaving the airside facility.
- Maintain security records.
- Report any instances of lost property to the security manager.
- Ensure vehicles are parked in designated parking areas.
- Conduct patrols during off-peak hours to secure all areas and conserve energy.
- Secure all external doors and windows.
- Promptly report any potential hazards or building maintenance requirements.
- Familiarize yourself with the location of fire equipment, fire drill procedures, and fire management techniques in line with fire warden training.
- Administer first aid when necessary and know the whereabouts of first aid kits.
Qualifications for Success as a Security Officer:
- A comprehensive understanding of the DHL Network.
- Exceptional personal appearance, grooming, and hygiene.
- Demonstrated capacity to use initiative and judgment in addressing job-related challenges.
- Preferably, prior experience in the Army, Airport Security, or Police Force.
- Comfort working with the general public.
- Display the ability to quickly assess situations and employ suitable resolutions.
- Proficiency in computer usage.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Outstanding verbal communication skills and interpersonal demeanor.
- Strong organizational capabilities, including effective workload prioritization.
- Proven competence in functioning under pressure within a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
