The primary role of the Truck Driver is to ensure the safe and timely transportation of materials, both raw and finished, using McCain-owned or leased equipment. This includes handling shipments to and from offsite storage facilities. Duties also involve conducting safety inspections on the tractor and trailers, performing yard checks, and maintaining the cleanliness of equipment (tractor/trailers). In cases where trailer movement is unnecessary, forklift operation may be required. Furthermore, the role may entail working in various departmental areas when not actively driving.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the inspection of all trucks and trailers to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Efficiently complete trailer movements in a safe manner.
- Set refrigerated trailers to predetermined temperatures for the safe storage and transportation of products.
- Adhere to established guidelines and policies, including GMP, USDA, OSHA, as communicated by Human Resources and department leadership.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and accurately complete necessary paperwork.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, including traffic laws.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Physical fitness is essential, as Truck Drivers are required to pass a physical exam every two years.
- Strong hand-eye coordination to effectively coordinate hands, legs, and eyes for quick reactions while driving.
- Meet visual and hearing acuity requirements mandated by federal regulations, including hearing a forced whisper at 5 feet, having at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision, and the ability to distinguish traffic light colors.
- Must possess a Class A CDL with medical endorsements.
